Chain drive from a TH350?

Postby Hot Stuff » Sun Sep 08, 2013 7:55 pm

Anyone have any pics or suggestions on the best, easiest way to run a chain drive from my th350? I'm thinking about losing the d20 tcase this winter to save some weight and free up a few ponies. I need to keep the whole thing as short as possible, as I can't have it any longer than the tcase / adapter is.

Just get a long yoke to go into the transmission and weld a sprocket onto it (might have to turn the shoulder off the sprocket and bore it out to make it work). Then put the other sprocket on a keyed shaft with some carrier bearings and run it up to the front.

Ron's working man store/ wilkof industrial supply downtown canton here , sells all kinds of sprockets, chains, pillow blocks and ect. They also can machine work. Several people I know have bought their set up there. Prices are surprisingly cheap, surplus type stuff. Chain was less than dollar a foot last time I bought some.
Hmm I would like Dana 20 and adapter, to swap out 300 and adapter. I like the 2:1 gear in the model 20 compared to 2.67 of 300. I'm rev'd out 3/4 the way down track. butn after I saw your hill climb though, looks like that takes a little lower gear
I'm planning on givin yah a run for your money on the hill climbs this year , lol

You're not revved out, you just need an engine that'll handle more rpm!

Bring it on!

Were having 3 hill climbs at tri county this year! Maybe 4. Gonna be a good year!

Lol. Rodger that !
We're hittin the mud this Sunday at noon . Hate mud. But blew damn, rear driveshaft any way, just goin to store ! So I'm hitting every event I can hit ,till she breaks again. Got me a spare drivetrain in garage 8-) an davey's jeep's is $ away.
lill high revver on back burner is ticklin me funny bone. Ifn I can beat yah to top of ye big hill, don't reckon I'd be needin lill revver. except sweet spare. See yah at the hillclimb! My ww2 .50 cal. Jeep gun mount plated pig is ready to rip that hill like a tracer round.
