Postby Mikey1985 » Thu Jan 15, 2015 4:38 pm

Hello all newbie here

What tires would you recommend for a 4x4 truck at around 500hp?
1/2 ton chevy stepside

Thanks

What's the main thing you'll be doing with the truck? And what is the main surface you'll be on?

32x14.5's would be a good start or something like that. You could do 12 or 14 Super Scoopers or even Hookers.

Truck will be street legal so maybe drive on the weekends a little . Plan on doing some sand drags and taking out to the sand dunes out here in the west coast. I was planning on getting some 33x12.50r15 muds on 15x10 wheels for street . I have already some 15x15 rear wheels hopefully pick up a set of paddles from you in the near future . Would some sand tires unlimited be too small?

No, Sand Tires Unlimited wouldn't be too small, but they're more expensive than what I could get you into a set of Scoops for to be honest. If you're on the west coast you can pick the tires up right at Skat-Trak if you like as well. So that would save you on shipping.

I ran 14.50 on the sand in front and 33 scoops on the rear of my 86 Chevy long box. Worked excellent.

What tires are on the front now? Do you have a lift on it? Mine is 4"

I'm going to buy some 33" mud terrains so i can drive around town. Plan on getting custom leaf springs done in the future to improve the ride.

That would be a good choice. Multipurpose tire wise. A suggestion I would make is check out skyjacker Soft ride springs. They ride great in my truck.
