i want to drive it on the street and possibly get 10 MPG (with hydraulic lifters)

i dont know what the truck weighs, but the first rule of going fast is light, that truck in not, just a cool looking cruiser with some loud mufflers, 250-300 HP range?

we have a few fast things around here if i need a fix :D

found and bought a engine!! it was hidden in a barn near Silver Lake.
it is in Mr. Tom Hartman's possession now and he is going to take it apart for a freshen up job.

it is a 1974 truck 350 4 bolt main SBC with 70,000 original miles. 2 owner, the original owner pulled it and the second owner never used it.
it is complete with starter, alt, dist, air cleaner to pan with headers for a truck.

i am very happy!!

Thanks go out to Tom Hartman for finding that for me!

finally had some time for this, we have been gone every weekend sence June.

this is the motor i bought, after getting piston and head numbers i found out the compression ratio.
i decided i wouldn't be happy with it as is.
i had nothing for a motor to put in the truck, i will only be using the bolts, block, crank, rods, pan, timing cover, push rods, flex plate and pulleys, bought a used carb and intake, everything else is new. i had the starter and alt rebuilt. it's going to be like Christmas at the shop today!!

fresh .030 over bore
Image
.125 raised piston dome, with the 64CC chambers, the compression should be 10.7
i purchased them NIB pistons on ebay for half of new

i think not!

i hope the orange valve covers can stay, they just clear the rockers i put in. once the lifters pump up, we'll see!
