the non-winter of 2012

Postby chainreaction » Sat Feb 11, 2012 6:10 am

What a bizarre winter were having. After the past 3-4 winters with near record snow fall here in the Northeast.
I was in Kittery yesterday and I passed a public works crew that was out repainting curbing at the route 1 traffic circle, mid-February?
Driving around there is no snow for 5-10 miles of the Maine coast and at home we only have a few inches left in the yard. A few more days like yesterday and we will only have stray snowbanks left. I'm heading up skiing again today, although somewhat reluctantly as my knees are already aching at the thought of another day of skiing on ice!
The way it's going, spring should be here very early this year. We don't usually start working on the summer toys until skiing wraps up in April. Probably going to start working the new car next weekend.....

Maybe a total of 25-30 inches of snow total here in West Michigan for the season, thats the least I have seen in years, but we still have a way to go. It's been warm , too. There is talk of one of the warmest winters on record here.
Sebastian, how much snow do you get there in Germany?

We got not that much snow this year - currently between 1 and 2 inches. In the last 2 winters there was a lot more snow. But I can't remember that is was so cold in the last 10 years.

I'm in South Carolina on a business trip. Today was the coldest day they've had all winter. It was mid 20's when we left the hotel this morning.
